children & youth
Children of all ages are welcome at Christchurch! We have a range of activities and teaching groups so that our children feel very much a part of church.
Our aim for all our children and youth is that they come to know the God of the Bible and build strong foundations that will stay with them through life... We want them to feel loved and at home in church as they are taught and investigate the christian faith for themselves.
Children stay with us for the family-friendly start of the service, during which there is usually a children’s talk, then leave for Bible teaching, crafts, games, music and prayer in friendly small groups:
Crèche - 0 to 2s
Sparklers - 3 to 4s
Flames - Reception to Year 2 (aged 4-7)
Lasers - Years 3-6 (aged 8-11)
All our leaders are DBS checked and we regularly meet to train and review the work we are doing with our young people.
CMH's Youth group is for young people in school years 7-11. Our aim is to encourage our youth to learn more about Jesus and to make a commitment to follow Him, whilst making good friends and having lots of fun.
We meet together every Sunday morning to study the Bible, pray together, play games, chat and eat sweets! Once a month, the youth stay in the main service during the sermon and then have lunch together afterwards where they can ask any questions they have about the service.
We have regular Friday evening socials, which are often pizza and board game nights, movie nights, or a hot chocolate and cake at a local café, as well as half termly Saturday days out to places like Drayton Manor, ice skating at Beckworth Emporium and ten pin bowling. We encourage the youth to invite their friends along to all these socials.
As a smaller group, we think it's especially important to link up with other Christian events, like the Midlands Gospel Partnership Youth conference – Rooted, held at the Snowdome.
